This is a really interesting subject...there has been a previous documentray - locally (Tulsa) produced I think and some books as well, but I am sure it is not a generally well-known subject.

I am familiar with it as an Oklahoman and also because my father-in-laws family had an African-American maid; they left their home to go &quot;rescue&quot; her from the mayhem.

An especially interesting part of the story is that - based on what I have heard - the African-American section of Tulsa at that time was very wealthy, indeed, compared to the rest of the country.
