Back to the Land of the Living

10 days ago I hurt my leg during a boating trip, nothing serious, but then 2 days later in the middle of the night I woke up with excruciating pain where I had hurt my leg. My wife took me to the doctor and we found out it was a fairly serious staph infection. I have been bed-ridden, loaded with antibiotics, and in a pain killer fog since Tuesday or so. Anyway, swelling is down, leg will be saved, and my head is clearing up….

Sorry to hear that, but I am pleased to hear that you are on the road to recovery.

Thanks guys. I don’t recommend staph infections, this thing is going to take weeks to heal. Not fun! I guess the local lake ain’t as clean as we thought!

    Chris,

Here’s one time when I can really say “I know how you feel.” I had a staph infection in my lower leg 2-plus years ago and was in the hospital a few days w/ antibiotics, etc., then had to give myself iv’s at home for another month. At least the doctor had a sense of humor…when he came into my hospital room he drew a line on my leg to mark the infection area and said they’d “take my leg off there.”

Anyway – I do hope you feel better soon.

    All My Best,

    Jim Schmidt

Jim sounds like you had a far more severe type than I did. I have had two in-office shot treatments and have been on horse pills passed off as antibiotics. I can’t eat, but can’t taste anything anyway. I feel tired all the time, and my leg friggin hurts. It is really doing well, besides the hole in my leg, but I’ll get over it, have to, school starts on Monday and I will have to be ready.
